The “Madyar Birds” Special Forces reported that they had struck an MBEK boat base in Crimea, four tankers in the Black and Azov Seas, five elements of Russian air defence systems, and storage and launch sites for attack UAVs at the «Donetsk» airfield. Units from the 414th and 412th SBS brigades, as well as the «Phoenix» group of the State Border Guard Service, were involved in striking the ground targets.

Briefly about the main points

  • In Crimea, an MBEK boat base and radar-transparent radar shelters have been hit.
  • Four tankers have been hit in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.
  • The air defence targets include the P-18 radar, the «Nebo-SVU», the «Sopka-2» and the «Buk-M3» air defence system.
  • At Donetsk airfield, a storage facility and launch site for attack UAVs have been hit.
  • In July, the SBS announced that it had destroyed 30 Russian air defence systems.

Which targets were hit?

The MBEK boat base in the village of Snizhne in Crimea was struck by the 9th «Kairos» Battalion of the 414th Separate SBS Brigade «Madyar’s Birds». The same unit struck the radar-transparent radar shelters in Okhotnichye, Crimea.

At the «Donetsk» airfield, a unit of the State Border Guard Service’s «Phoenix» detachment struck a storage and launch site for attack drones. This airfield had previously been mentioned in reports by the Defence Forces as a site linked to the storage, preparation and launch of Shahed drones.

  • The P-18 radar station in Ivanivka, Zaporizhzhia Oblast — 412th SBS ‘Nemesis’ Brigade.
  • A «Buk-M3» air defence system was spotted in Snizhne, Donetsk Oblast — by the «Phoenix» unit of the State Border Guard Service’s Special Border Service Group.
  • The «Nebo-SVU» radar station in Russky Kolodyazh, Rostov Oblast — the 9th «Kairos» Battalion.
  • The «Sopka-2» TRLK in Fedorivka, Rostov Oblast — the 9th «Kairos» Battalion.

205 tankers since the start of the operation

As part of Operation «Milk»Four more tankers have been hit. The total number of vessels hit since the operation began on 6 July stands at 205: 130 in the Sea of Azov and 75 in the Black Sea.".

The maritime phase of the campaign is taking place against a backdrop of systematic strikes against Russian logistics. Earlier, the General Staff reported that tankers hit in the Black Sea were transporting oil, petroleum products and fuel on behalf of the Russian armed forces. At the same time, the affiliation of each specific vessel with the «shadow fleet» requires separate identification.

Pressure on the drone detection and launch system

The SBS also stated that it had struck 30 elements of the Russian Federation’s air defence system during July. The combination of radars, radar shelters and an anti-aircraft system in the new list may indicate an attempt to weaken the chain of detection, tracking and engagement of air targets in certain areas.

«Nebo-SVU» is designed to detect and track aerial targets, whilst «Sopka-2» is used to monitor airspace and transmit radar data. Repeated strikes on the infrastructure of Donetsk airfield are, at the same time, maintaining pressure on the site, which Russia had been using for operations involving attack UAVs.
