The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has stated that Belarus, by involving itself in the war on Russia’s side, could bring about serious consequences for Ukraine. He emphasised that equipment has been deployed on Belarusian territory which is helping the Russians to launch strikes against Ukrainian cities.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy He drew attention to Belarus’s dangerous actions, which could escalate the conflict with Russia. He noted that the following had been established on the territory of the neighbouring country: specialised equipment, which is used to carry out drone strikes on Ukraine. According to the president, this equipment is helping Russian troops to attack Ukrainian cities, including Zhytomyr, Rivne and Volyn.

“We are aware of four such relay stations in Belarus – in the Gomel and Brest regions. It is thanks to them that the Russians are launching strikes on our territory,” said Zelenskyy.

Furthermore, the President emphasised that Ukraine must information about every factory in Belarus that supplies components for Russian weapons. This includes enterprises producing fuel for military operations. According to him, between January and May, petrol supplies from Belarus to Russia increased 13-fold, whilst diesel supplies tripled.

“This helps Russia to adapt to the pressure and does not bring peace any closer. Belarus has time to dismantle this equipment,” added Zelenskyy.

The President called on Belarus to take action that would demonstrate its stance on the war, as peace is a priority for Ukraine. Zelenskyy expressed the hope that Belarus would take steps to show that it refuses to participate in the conflict.
