President says EU institutions are interested in terms of restoration of the oil pipeline after damage

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he was unaware of an official visit by a Hungarian delegation that had allegedly arrived in Ukraine to inspect the oil pipeline «Druzhba».

According to the Head of State, the heads of institutions European Union are currently wondering when the pipeline, which transports oil to Central Europe, can be restored.

EU awaits information on the timeline for recovery

Zelensky said he had previously received preliminary assessments from experts Naftogaz of Ukraine regarding the possible resumption of oil supplies.

According to this information, it is technically possible to restore transit through the damaged infrastructure in about one and a half to two months.

At the same time, the President stressed that it was only a matter of launching transportation, not the full restoration of all damaged facilities.

Recovery may be more difficult

According to the President, some elements of the infrastructure have suffered significant damage as a result of missile strikes.

This includes large oil storage tanks.

«We are only talking about restoring the possibility of supply. If we also restore the reservoirs destroyed by missiles, there is the largest reservoir in Central Europe,» Zelensky stressed.

The Druzhba pipeline is one of the key routes for transporting oil from Eastern Europe to Central Europe. Its stable operation is essential for the energy security of a number of EU countries.
