The National Police of Donetsk region exposed a group of military personnel who received illegal payments for allegedly participating in hostilities. The total amount of losses exceeded UAH 9.3 million. The officials forged documents to receive additional remuneration.
Scheme of illegal payments
Operatives of the Strategic Investigations Department in Donetsk region, together with other law enforcement officers, exposed a criminal scheme in a unit of the Defence Forces. Officials entered false data into official documentation on the direct participation of individual servicemen in hostilities.
In fact, at the time of entering this information, the soldiers were in the rear. Based on the fake data, they were illegally awarded additional payments.
Amount of losses and amount of payments
The total amount of illegally paid funds is over UAH 9.3 million. Each of the «combatants» could receive up to UAH 100,000 per month.
All payments were made on the basis of forged documents confirming fictitious participation in hostilities.
Context.
The investigation is ongoing and all persons involved in the scheme are being identified. The National Police is taking measures to recover the illegally obtained funds and bring the perpetrators to justice.
