Tusk: US withdrawal from NATO plays into Putin's hands

He also stressed that the easing of sanctions against Russia, the energy crisis in Europe and the cessation of aid to Ukraine are factors that play into the Kremlin's hands.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk in his statement in social networks X stressed that US threats of a possible withdrawal from NATO are a «dream plan» for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. According to Tusk, such statements increase the risks of the Alliance's collapse, which could lead to serious consequences for Europe's security.

Among them are the easing of sanctions against Russia, the energy crisis in Europe, and the cessation of aid to Ukraine. He also highlighted the blocking of a loan to Kyiv by the Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orban.

Ukraine and NATO: a strategic challenge

Tusk stressed that the current situation requires consolidation of the West to counter Russian aggression. He called on the allies to remain united and to prevent scenarios that could lead to a weakening of NATO and a threat to Ukraine.
