After interrogating the crew, the prosecutor's office released the vessel, notifying two crew members of suspicion of environmental crimes. No enforcement action was taken.
Flora 1 tanker released after detention
Today it became known that Sweden has released tanker Flora 1, which was previously detained off the southern coast of the country. The vessel, which belongs to the shadow fleet of the Russian Federation, is suspected of oil spillage in the Swedish economic zone near the island of Gotland.
Prosecutor's Office interrogated the crew and brought up suspicions
The Swedish prosecutor's office questioned the crew of Flora 1. Two people were notified of suspicion of committing environmental crimes, but no enforcement action was taken against them. Prosecutors explained that the oil spill occurred within Sweden's economic zone, so their investigative powers are limited.
Tanker leaves the territory of Sweden
After completion of the necessary investigative actions, the Flora 1 tanker was allowed to sail. It is known that the vessel departed from the port of Primorsk and had an unclear destination, which raised additional suspicions among Swedish law enforcement.
