Klitschko explains the need to review tariffs

According to Vitali Klitschko, the cost of travel in Kyiv remains the lowest among Ukrainian cities. However, rising prices for fuel, electricity and consumables are forcing the city authorities to consider raising fares. Klitschko emphasised that transport in the capital is subsidised, with UAH 12 billion allocated to support it this year.

Budgetary changes and energy sustainability of the city

The mayor also said that the Kyiv City Council plans to reallocate some budget items to ensure energy sustainability cities. This may affect the financing of the transport sector, which already needs additional funds.

The last tariff revision was in 2018

The last time fares were changed in Kyiv was eight years ago. Since then, the cost of maintaining the transport infrastructure has increased significantly. The city authorities promise to take into account the interests of residents and maintain socially affordable transport.
