The Security Service of Ukraine detained a foreign killer during an attempted assassination attempt on a senior official of the Ukrainian Navy in Odesa. According to the investigation, the attack was organised by Russian special services. The attacker was captured by the SBU's Special Forces «A» when he tried to open fire.
Attempted murder of an officer of the Ukrainian Navy
A foreign killer tried to shoot a high-ranking official of the Ukrainian Navy on the order of Russian special services. According to the SBU, the attacker was waiting for the victim at the exit of a residential complex, imitating a bicycle repair.
As the officer's car approached the exit, the attacker threw his bicycle under the car's wheels and tried to open fire at the driver. At that moment, he was detained by the SBU Special Forces «A».
Detention of a killer in Odesa
The operation took place in Odesa, where the offender was detained red-handed. According to the SBU, the suspect was under control for a long time.
The detainee is a recruited resident of one of the Balkan countries. In February 2026, he arrived in Kyiv disguised as a tourist and later moved to Odesa to prepare the attempt.

The killer faces up to 12 years in prison for attempted murder. The SBU operation helped to prevent the crime and detain the perpetrator on the spot.
