NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov said that the first contracts under the Drone Deal are already being approved. The meeting discussed the introduction of controlled exports of Ukrainian defence products and new security partnerships. The key agencies agreed to simplify permitting procedures and reduce the timeframe for their review.
Drone Deal contracts are in the final stages of approval
First contracts signed under political agreements Drone Deal, have already been submitted for approval. This was stated by Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council. According to him, work is currently underway to implement the agreements reached in practice, both in terms of contracts and individual projects in the field of defence cooperation.
Aligning positions and optimising procedures
Umerov emphasized that the NSDC Office, the Ministry of Defence, intelligence and military command have already agreed on a common position on simplifying the process of obtaining permits for Export of defence products and shortening the time for their processing. This should ensure faster contract implementation and prompt response to partner requests.
Coordination and next steps
Coordination will be carried out by the NSDC Secretariat, and practical implementation will be carried out by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. It is expected that the number of new partnerships under the Drone Deal will increase by the end of May-June. During the meeting, the parties also discussed controlled exports of defence products and the expansion of international cooperation.
Prerequisites for the agreement
In March, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine was ready to sign the Drone Deal with all reliable partners. Prior to that, Ukraine received query from the United States for support in defending against the Shahed in the Middle East.
