Joint production of BARS drones
Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sibiga and the German Minister of Defence Boris Pistorius have signed an implementation agreement that marks a new phase of cooperation in the production of drones BARS. This document is the result of efforts by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the German Federal Ministry of Defence as part of the ‘Build with Ukraine’ programme.
During the initial phase of the project, all costs associated with the production of BARS drones will be funded by the German side. It is important to note that the drones produced will not be exported — all units will be handed over to the Ukrainian Defence Forces for combat operations.
Strengthening the defence partnership
The signing of the agreement marked a further step towards deepening military-technical cooperation between Kyiv and Berlin. The ‘Build with Ukraine’ initiative involves not only the supply of weapons but also the localisation of production of modern defence technologies. This enables Ukraine to ramp up drone production more quickly, reducing its reliance on imports and strengthening its own defence industry.
«This project is further proof of our long-term support for Ukraine in the field of security,» said Andriy Sybiga during the signing of the agreement.
