Two oil depots came under attack
On the night of 9 July, Ukrainian long-range drones simultaneously attacked two Russian oil depots — in Tver and Mikhailovsk. Following the strikes, massive fires broke out at both sites, with thick black smoke visible for tens of kilometres.
There is currently no official confirmation of the extent of the damage, but local residents report a series of explosions prior to the fire breaking out.
Russia’s fuel infrastructure remains in the firing line
In recent months, Ukrainian drones have been regularly carrying out strikes on oil refineries, oil depots, compressor stations and logistics hubs in Russia. Such attacks are aimed at reducing the Russian army’s fuel supply capabilities and putting additional pressure on the Russian Federation’s military-industrial complex.
The consequences of the latest strikes are still being assessed.
