As a result of Russian strikes on Kharkiv and 18 settlements in the Kharkiv region over the past 24 hours, a 58-year-old man was killed in Balakliya and a further 14 people were injured. This was reported by the Kharkiv regional authorities. Residential buildings, a medical facility, railway infrastructure, vehicles and other civilian targets were damaged.

Casualties in Kharkiv, Balakliya and Lozova
In Kharkiv, a 49-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman were injured. Medical staff also diagnosed two other residents — a 67-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman — with an acute stress reaction. Russian drones attacked the Saltivskyi and Kyivskyi districts of the city.
The highest number of casualties was reported in Balakliya: there, in addition to the fatality, eight people were injured. In Lozova, two men aged 63 and 56 were injured.
The damage affected six districts in the region
In Kharkiv a petrol station has been damaged and a car. In the Bohodukhiv district, damage was caused to residential buildings and outbuildings in Ivashky, Dovzhik, Bohodukhiv and Petrivka, as well as to four petrol stations and three garages.
In the Izium district, power lines in Pyatihirsk have been damaged. In Balakliya, damage has been reported to an administrative building, a medical facility, shops, vehicles, private homes and a warehouse. In Barvinkove, the warehouses of an agricultural firm have been damaged, whilst in Izium, a petrol station, vehicles and five private homes have been damaged.
A house in Shipuvatoye and a car in Velykyi Burluk, in the Kupiansk district, were also damaged. In Dergachi, a car was damaged; in Korotych, a postal terminal and a car were damaged. Damage to railway infrastructure was reported in Lozova and Zmiiv; in Zmiiv, a private business and a car were also damaged.
Rockets, attack drones and FPVs
According to the regional authorities, Russian forces fired two missiles and 11 UAVs of the «Geranium-2», one «Lancet», one «Molniya», seven FPV drones and 44 unmanned aerial vehicles, the type of which is still being determined.
This list highlights the multifaceted nature of the air threat in the region. However, the report does not specify exactly what type of weaponry was used against each of the damaged targets.
Evacuation and the danger posed by explosive objects
The transit evacuation centre in Lozova received 265 people in the past 24 hours. In total, 48,154 people have been registered there since the centre opened. The authorities did not specify which communities the people arriving in the past 24 hours were from.
Separately, medics treated a 77-year-old woman who was injured during the shelling of Shevchenkove on 21 July, and a 67-year-old man who was wounded on 26 July by the explosion of an unidentified object in Kozacha Lopana. The latter incident is not believed to be linked to the current attacks. The State Emergency Service of Kharkiv Oblast reminds the public: do not touch any suspicious objects; move away from them and call 101, 102 or 112.
Combat activity on two fronts
The General Staff reported 227 combat engagements over the past 24 hours across the entire front line. In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, Russian troops attacked Ukrainian positions 10 times near Vovchansk and in the directions of Kozacha Lopana, Petro-Ivanivka, Izbytske, Aniskine, Ivashkine and Symynivka.
In the Kupiansk sector, six attacks took place in the directions of Bohuslavka, Kupiansk, Petropavlivka and near Zapadne. Together, these two sectors accounted for around 7% of all combat engagements recorded over the past 24 hours — this is an editorial estimate based on data from the General Staff.
