In Odesa, an unidentified man opened fire on staff members of the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centre. According to preliminary reports from local TV channels, four staff members of the centre were injured.
Law enforcement officers and other emergency services are at the scene. The flat, where an armed man is believed to be, has been cordoned off.
The man ran out of the house and opened fire
According to preliminary reports, the incident took place in the courtyard of a residential block. A man ran out of the building and fired several shots from a pistol at the workers TCC.
After the shooting, the attacker returned to the building and hid in a flat. Footage released by eyewitnesses shows official minibuses and people in the courtyard of the high-rise block.
The causes of the conflict and the circumstances under which the man used his weapon have not yet been established.
Four people are reported to have been injured
According to preliminary reports, four members of the TCC were injured in the shooting. It is also not yet known whether any civilians were near the scene or whether any of them were injured. The number of injured may change following official reports from medical and law enforcement authorities.
A 25-year-old employee of the TCC sustained a gunshot wound to the back and was admitted to hospital. Three other employees sought medical attention themselves for gunshot wounds. Their condition is described as moderate.
Law enforcement officers are carrying out an operation
Local TV channels report that security forces have cordoned off the building and are attempting to gain access to the flat where the suspected gunman is believed to be. Residents in the surrounding area are being urged not to approach the scene of the operation.
