The Russian marketplace Wildberries has reduced the one-off registration fee for sellers from China from 10,000 to 500 yuan — a 20-fold reduction. The preferential terms will remain in place until 31 August 2026. The platform is seeking to attract Chinese entrepreneurs against a backdrop of disruptions to its own logistics network, although the company has not stated that there is a direct link between these events.
Briefly about the main points
- The fee for Chinese sellers has been reduced from 10,000 to 500 yuan.
- The preferential rate is available until 31 August 2026.
- A single tax number can have up to ten paid accounts.
- Once activated, the shop will receive promotional points valid for one year.
- Wildberries did not attribute the disruption to attacks on its warehouses.
Up to ten shops per tax registration number
The new terms have been added to Wildberries’ official guidelines for Chinese sellers. Up to ten accounts may be created per tax registration number. Each additional account must be paid for separately at a preferential rate.
An entrepreneur may register no more than five new accounts per day. Several accounts may be required to organise the product range across different shops, brands or product categories.
The payment is credited as advertising credit
Once an account has been activated, the marketplace credits the seller with 500 advertising points for the internal promotion of products. These are credited immediately and remain valid for one year. The same bonus is available for each additional account registered.
The fee is non-refundable, particularly if the business owner does not start selling on the platform. It can be paid via WeChat or Alipay using the QR code generated in your personal account. Activation may take up to three working days. According to the official instructions, the payment amount includes VAT and is payable in a single instalment.
Quotations and prices for Chinese companies
Wildberries It is developing a dedicated infrastructure for sellers from China: it has a Chinese-language portal, training materials and support centres. Sellers set their prices in yuan, and the platform automatically displays the amount in roubles to buyers at the internal exchange rate.
The order amount is fixed in yuan, and payments to businesses are also made in Chinese currency. Under the platform’s rules, its internal exchange rate cannot deviate from the Bank of Russia’s official rate by more than 10%. This reduces the direct currency risk for the seller once an order has been placed, although the margin is affected by commissions, logistics and advertising.
The concession was introduced against a backdrop of problems with warehouses
Since mid-July, drones have attacked more than a dozen Wildberries sites, resulting in major fires and loss of goods. The company rerouted shipments via backup centres and paid compensation to sellers; Reuters reported disruptions to part of the distribution network.
As of 5 August, the commander of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces Robert Brovdi It reported attacks on 16 warehouses over 18 days, 14 of which caught fire. Wildberries did not officially link the reduction in the registration fee to the attacks on the warehouses. The new terms may expand the platform’s base of Chinese sellers and its product range; such a link is merely a possible consequence.
