On the night of 21 August, Russian forces launched a massive drone attack on the village of Leb’yazhe in the Chuhuiv district of the Kharkiv region. The strikes hit a residential area. Two women were killed, two other people were injured, and private homes were destroyed or damaged.
Russia attacked Lebyazhe with six drones
A large-scale attack on the village of Lebyazhe took place during the night. According to the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Russian troops used six drones. The Public Prosecutor’s Office reports that the strikes began at around 02:20, and that «Geran-2»-type UAVs were used in the attack.
The strikes were recorded in a residential area. The strikes caused large-scale fires — the blaze engulfed five residential buildings and cars. The total area affected by the fires was around 400 square metres.
According to updated figures from the Regional Military Administration, three private homes have been destroyed and a further 20 damaged. Three outbuildings have also been damaged.
The bodies of two women were recovered from the rubble
The following people were killed as a result of the Russian attack A 73-year-old and a 66-year-old woman. Their bodies were recovered by rescue workers whilst clearing the rubble of the collapsed buildings.
Two more women, aged 41 and 73, were injured. They were given the necessary medical treatment.
At the sites of the strikes, rescue workers are extinguishing fires and carrying out emergency rescue operations. Utility services and machinery from a local agricultural enterprise have also been deployed to deal with the aftermath.
The Kharkiv region was once again under attack from Russia
Over the past 24 hours Russian troops attacked Kharkiv and a number of settlements in the region. According to the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, a total of two people were killed in the region as a result of Russian strikes, whilst a further nine were injured or suffered acute stress reactions.
The worst consequences of the night-time attack were recorded in Lebyazhe, where Russian drones struck a private residential area.
