On the night of On 7 October, Russia launched a large-scale combined attack on Ukraine, using various types of ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as attack and jet-powered drones. The main strikes targeted Kyiv and the surrounding region, Dnipro, Kremenchuk, Pryluky, Oleksandriia and Zaporizhzhia. Confirmed hits include industrial, warehouse and transport facilities, though missiles also struck residential areas. Two people were killed in Kyiv, whilst in the Poltava region, two further deaths and seven injuries were reported following the attack. In Pryluky, a missile struck a high-rise block directly — search and rescue operations are underway beneath the rubble.

What types of missiles did Russia use to attack Ukraine?
An official summary report from the Air Force detailing the total number of missiles fired and destroyed as of this morning has not yet been released. Throughout the attack, the military reported ballistic threats, cruise missiles and jet-powered UAVs in various regions.
Pros. a preliminary assessment of the monitoring channels The structure of the attack was as follows:
- about 10 9M723/RM-48U ballistic missiles — towards Kyiv;
- about 6 3M22 «Zircon» missiles» — towards the Kyiv region, in particular the Obukhiv district;
- about 4 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles — along the Dnieper;
- about 2 «Zircons» — towards Kremenchuk;
- five «Kalibr» groups» — towards Dnipro;
- three groups of «Kalibrs» — towards Kremenchuk;
- 19 X-101 groups — towards Kremenchuk;
- four X-101 groups — towards Oleksandriya;
- eight X-101 groups — towards Pryluky.
That’s exactly it an assessment based on monitoring data, rather than the Air Force’s final statistics. Furthermore, a «group» of cruise missiles does not refer to a single missile, so it is incorrect to include these figures in the total number of munitions.
Kyiv: ballistic strikes, two dead
The capital of Russia launched a ballistic missile attack in several waves.
У Podil district A rocket struck a non-residential development. A fire broke out in two non-residential buildings and storage facilities were damaged.
According to the monitoring channel eRadar, one of the destroyed sites may have been a warehouse belonging to the Ukrainian tool chain Dnipro-M. As of this morning, the company itself had not issued a public confirmation of the loss of the depot; therefore, for the time being, this detail should be reported with reference to monitoring sources. Dnipro-M’s official channel had not yet posted a statement regarding the attack.
У Darnitskyi District A rocket fell on the grounds of a garage co-operative. The fire spread over an area of around 200 square metres. Whilst extinguishing the fire, the emergency services discovered the bodies two dead, two more people were rescued. At another address, the debris fell in an open area.
Kyiv Region: an attack on the Obukhiv District
The Kyiv region also came under a combined attack — involving the use of drones and ballistic missiles.
В Obukhiv District Three production and storage facilities were damaged. Fires broke out at the sites, but these were successfully contained. A lorry and a trailer were also damaged. According to the KOVA, there were no casualties.
Monitoring channels reported launches of «Zircon» missiles towards Obukhiv and suggested that one of the possible targets could have been energy infrastructure of the district. At the same time There is no official confirmation that the Trypilska Thermal Power Station was hit.
Kremenchuk: one of the main targets of the attack
This morning, the Poltava region came under an exceptionally intense barrage of missiles and drones. The head of the Regional Military Administration Vitaliy Dyakivnych reported a series of explosions in Kremenchuk and described the attack as a large-scale one.
One of the hits landed in a residential area of Kremenchuk. Apartment blocks have been damaged. Another strike was recorded at a business in the Kremenchuk district.
Later, the Poltava Regional State Administration reported preliminary figures on two dead and seven injured. The rescue operation was continuing at the scene.
Kremenchuk was one of the most heavily targeted areas: numerous groups of X-101s and «Kalibrs» were heading there, and there were also reports of «Zircons» being used. During the attack itself, the channel consistently recorded groups of X-101 missiles approaching the city from the direction of Poltava.
On social media, one of the possible targets mentioned was Kremenchuk Hydroelectric Power Station, the authorities have not confirmed that the station was directly hit. It should therefore not be described as a confirmed target of the attack.
Pryluky: a rocket struck a high-rise block
Some of the worst damage fixed у in Pryluky, Chernihiv Oblast.
Head of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration Vyacheslav Chaus confirmed that one of the Russian missiles had struck directly into a residential block of flats in the morning, whilst people were still in their flats.
Part of the building has collapsed. Rescue workers are clearing the rubble; the presence of fatalities and injuries has been officially confirmed, but Chaus did not specify the exact number in his first report this morning.
During the attack, several groups of cruise missiles were detected heading towards Pryluky.
Information is also circulating on Telegram regarding damage to or the destruction of industrial facilities, in particular businesses involved in plastics manufacturing. As of this morning, there is no official confirmation that the «Plastmas» factory was destroyed during this particular attack.
Dnipro: an attack on an industrial plant
The Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration has confirmed strike on an industrial plant. The morning report also states that apartment blocks and a sports club in the city have been damaged.
According to preliminary assessments by monitoring sources, the following may have been used against Dnipro four «Iskander-M» or KN-23 ballistic missiles, as well as several groups of «Kalibr» anti-ship cruise missiles.
Zaporizhzhia: an attack on transport infrastructure
Russia launched an attack in Zaporizhzhia transport infrastructure facility.
Acting Head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration Mikhail Semikin warned that traffic restrictions may be in place on certain sections of road due to the aftermath of the blast.
The police have temporarily closed the road to traffic A cable-stayed bridge. Drivers were advised to take a detour via the Arch Bridge, the Dnipro Hydroelectric Power Station dam and the Preobrazhensky Bridge.
During the same period, the Air Force reported that jet-powered drones were moving towards Zaporizhzhia.
The attack lasted several hours
Russia began mounting a missile threat as early as last night, and the Air Force detected the latest jet-powered drones shortly after five o’clock this morning.
During the attack, the missiles changed course, with some groups entering via the Poltava region towards Kremenchuk, Pryluky and the Kirovohrad region. At the same time, ballistic strikes were directed at Kyiv and Dnipro.
The evening before Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported, that the intelligence service had received updated information on Russia’s preparations for a massive strike, and urged people to respond to missile alerts. A few hours later, Russia launched an attack.
The total number of missiles fired, the results of the air defence operations and the final list of hits are to be confirmed following the official report from the Air Force.
