On 22 August, a major fire broke out in Lviv on the premises of the «Iskra» factory in the Sykhiv district. A warehouse where aerosol cans were stored caught fire. Five employees of the factory were hospitalised with burns at St Luke’s Hospital.
What is known about the fire at the Iskra factory«
A fire broke out on the premises of the «Iskra» factory at Vuletska Street in the Sykhiv district of Lviv. A huge column of thick black smoke rose above the industrial estate and could be seen from various parts of the city.
Lviv City Council has reported that a fire has broken out in a warehouse, where the aerosol cans were kept. Fire and rescue units from the State Emergency Service arrived at the scene and began to contain and extinguish the fire.
Footage released by eyewitnesses shows thick smoke billowing over the factory premises. Due to the nature of the products stored in the warehouse, the fire was accompanied by a significant amount of smoke.
Five employees were admitted to hospital
The following people were affected by the fire five employees of the company. They were all taken to St Luke’s Hospital in Lviv.
According to the city council, doctors have diagnosed the victims with superficial burns. Their condition is assessed as moderate severity, patients are provided with the necessary medical care.
As of the time of publication, there is no information regarding fatalities.
Rescue workers are continuing to work on the company’s premises. The full extent of the damage to the warehouses and production facilities is currently being assessed.
