A VARUS grocery warehouse was damaged during the Russian attack on Dnipro on 10 September. A major fire broke out on the premises, but none of the company’s staff were injured. Thanks to the efforts of the emergency services, part of the stock was saved — VARUS reported that the goods are already being loaded and dispatched to supermarkets. Russia attacked the city several times that day, and during the third strike, the regional authorities reported specifically that a fire had broken out at the food warehouses.

A fire broke out in the building following the impact
У VARUS reported on the consequences Russian attack at a warehouse in Dnipro on 10 September. The fire engulfed the premises containing stock, but none of the company’s employees were injured.
The State Emergency Service managed to save some of the stock. Once the initial work had been completed, the company began to transport the salvaged goods and distribute them amongst its shops.
VARUS stated that some of the packaging may have a slight smell of smoke due to having been near the fire. The company attributed this to the attack it had endured and thanked the emergency services for their work.
Dnipro was attacked several times during the day
On 10 September, Russian troops Dnipro was attacked four times. During the third strike, the regional authorities reported that food warehouses had caught fire. Later, there was another attack, during which lorries were set alight and people were injured.
Earlier that day, Russia struck another food processing plant in Dnipro on two occasions. According to updated figures, two people were killed and a further five were injured as a result of the second attack.
Consequently, in the space of a single day, the following were all targeted several properties, relating to the city’s food and logistics infrastructure.
VARUS continues to supply goods
Despite the damage to the warehouse, the chain has not announced any closures of its supermarkets.
The salvaged goods are already being transported to retail outlets. The company is trying to reorganise its logistics to minimise supply disruptions.
This is not the first time VARUS has lost warehouse facilities as a result of Russian attacks. In May 2026, the warehouse of the logistics company UVK in Dnipro — a long-standing partner of the chain, where some of the goods for its shops were also stored — was damaged. At the time, the company warned of possible temporary delays to certain deliveries.
