Following a massive Russian attack on the morning of 30 September, some consumers in Kyiv and five regions of Ukraine were left without electricity. The power cuts are due to damage to the energy infrastructure. Energy companies are already beginning emergency repair work wherever the security situation allows.

Where there is currently no electricity
According to the Ministry of Energy, following Russian strikes overnight and this morning, power cuts have affected some customers in:
- Kyiv;
- Kyiv Oblast;
- Dnipropetrovsk Oblast;
- Donetsk Oblast;
- Sumy Oblast;
- Kharkiv Oblast.
We are talking about emergency power cuts due to hostilities and damage to the grid, rather than scheduled power cuts. As soon as the security situation allows, repair teams will continue to repair the damaged equipment and restore power to customers.
Energy infrastructure has been damaged in Kyiv
On the night of 30 September, Russia launched a massive attack on the capital. The strikes also caused casualties among energy facilities Kyiv.
As of this morning, the power company had already restored the electricity supply to approximately 8,000 households, however, work is continuing on the damaged sections. In some areas, there may be further localised power cuts whilst the networks are being switched over and repairs are being carried out.
No general power cut schedules have been introduced as yet
Despite the consequences of the attack, as of this morning The implementation of general measures to restrict consumption was not forecast for 30 September. This means that the current power cuts in the affected areas are primarily due to damage caused by shelling. The situation, however, may change depending on the condition of the power grid and any further attacks.
«Ukrenergo» is also asking people to postpone the use of high-power electrical appliances, where possible, until from 10.00 to 16.00, when solar power generation is at its peak.
During an emergency, it is best not to use the lifts
Given the damage to the power grid and the ongoing air threat, residents should be prepared for the possibility of a sudden power cut. This applies in particular to the use of lifts. In the event of a power cut, the lift car may come to a halt between floors, so it is safer to use the stairs during an air raid alert. It is also advisable to charge mobile phones, power banks and other essential devices whilst the electricity supply remains stable.
Power companies are continuing their restoration work, and distribution system operators are publishing up-to-date information on specific addresses separately for each region.
