Who is affected by the new restrictions?

According to a statement by the British Foreign Office, the measures are directed, in particular, against vessels acquired for the transport of liquefied natural gas under Russia’s new «shadow fleet». The package also covers networks which the British side links to the spread of pro-Kremlin disinformation.

The British side has reported that eight individuals have been added to the sanctions list due to their alleged involvement in arbitrary detentions, torture and ill-treatment of Ukrainian civilians. A further seven individuals, according to the department, have been subject to restrictions due to their role in the indoctrination and militarisation of Ukrainian children.

Separately, the British Foreign Office announced sanctions against seven individuals, including four Georgian nationals, who are linked to the dissemination of pro-Kremlin disinformation.

Extension of restrictions on Russian maritime logistics

The new measures continue the previous direction of the UK’s sanctions policy regarding Russian maritime logistics. On 6 August, the UK announced sanctions against 19 entities, including six recently acquired vessels belonging to the «shadow fleet», as well as Russian banks and companies.
