Polish studio CD Projekt RED published a themed piece of art marking the release of the official Ukrainian localisation The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The illustration depicts Geralt of Rivia wearing a vyshyvanka and a red sash whilst fighting monsters. The Ukrainian translation was released in the game on 29 September 2026, alongside the launch of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered. This refers to official text localisation — the interface and subtitles have been translated into Ukrainian.
- CD Projekt RED has unveiled some themed artwork featuring Geralt in a vyshyvanka.
- The illustration was created to mark the official Ukrainian localisation of *The Witcher 3*.
- Geralt is depicted wearing a vyshyvanka and a traditional red sash whilst fighting monsters.
- The developers clarified that the artwork is a creative interpretation and does not imply that such a costume will appear in the game.
- The official Ukrainian text localisation for *The Witcher 3* was released on 29 September.
Geralt was depicted in a Ukrainian style
In the artwork that has been released, the Witcher retains his distinctive features — white hair, swords and the gear of a monster hunter. At the same time, instead of his usual garment, he is depicted wearing a Ukrainian vyshyvanka, complemented by a traditional red sash.
The scene is designed in the style of the universe The Witcher: Geralt battles monsters, and Ukrainian elements are woven directly into his character.
CD Projekt RED explained separately that the illustration is a creative interpretation, created for the Ukrainian release. It does not indicate that the vyshyvanka has been added as a new piece of armour or that there have been any other changes to the character’s appearance within the game itself.

«The Witcher 3» has officially been localised into Ukrainian
The Ukrainian localisation became available with the release of the updated The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered 29 September. CD Projekt RED released the re-release as a free update for owners of the game on supported platforms. The localisation covers the game’s text, including the interface and subtitles. No Ukrainian dubbing has been added. A Ukrainian team worked on the translation, whilst the project was coordinated at CD Projekt RED by Olga Sushytska. She explained that work on the Ukrainian version had taken place under difficult conditions, particularly during Russian shelling, and described it as a significant milestone for Ukrainian game localisation.
The localisation was released 11 years after the game’s launch
The original *The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt* was released in May In 2015. Thus, the official Ukrainian version was released more than 11 years after the game’s initial launch. Prior to this, Ukrainian players had been able to use unofficial translations created by the community. Back in 2022, CD Projekt RED informed the Ukrainian GameDev DOU that the company was working on certain projects in Ukrainian, but did not disclose any details at the time. Alongside the localisation, the remaster features updated graphics, lighting, animations, a revamped combat system, a reworked skill tree, an expanded photo mode and cross-platform mod support. Themed artwork featuring Geralt in a vyshyvanka served as a special greeting to the Ukrainian audience to mark the release of the official translation. However, these elements remain purely an artistic interpretation and do not alter the canonical portrayal of the hero or his equipment in The Witcher 3.
