A Russian drone struck a medical facility

On the afternoon of 10 October, Russian troops launched a fresh attack on Kharkiv. One of the drones struck a medical facility in the Slobidskyi district, causing damage and a fire.

According to the mayor Igor Terekhov, the impact struck the area between the fourth and fifth floors of the building. The fire spread to rooms on three floors.

Units from the State Emergency Service were called in to deal with the aftermath. Rescue workers extinguished the fire and carried out the necessary work in the damaged building. The fire was subsequently brought under complete control.

Among those injured were four women and a rescuer

According to updated information from the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, four civilian women aged between 32 and 63 were injured as a result of the Russian attack. Two women — aged 42 and 63 — were hospitalised. The other two victims, aged 32 and 53, were treated by medics at the scene. They were diagnosed with an acute stress reaction.

In addition, a State Emergency Service officer was injured whilst fighting the fire. The rescuer was given the necessary medical treatment at the scene. This brings the total number of people injured to five.

Russia has attacked another area of Kharkiv

On the same day, Russian forces launched a strike using a «Molniya»-type drone on the Kholodnohirskyi district of Kharkiv. The mayor, Ihor Terekhov, also reported the attack.

At the time the first reports were received, there had been no reports of casualties in the Kholodnohirskyi district.

Russian attacks on Kharkiv remain a constant threat to the city’s civilian infrastructure. Damage to healthcare facilities hinders their operations and poses additional risks to patients and staff.

Once the fire had been extinguished, work continued at the site of the strike to clear up the damage caused by the shelling.
