On the night of 27 September, Russian forces once again attacked Kyiv with strike drones. In the Solomyanskiy district, one of the drones struck a single-storey building housing a vehicle service centre. A fire broke out there, which the emergency services brought under control at around 03:00. At another location, a UAV struck a non-residential building — whilst extinguishing the blaze, firefighters discovered the body of a man.
A drone struck a car repair workshop
According to the State Emergency Service, in the Solomyanskyi district, a Russian drone struck a single-storey car service centre building. A fire broke out following the impact. The emergency services managed to prevent the fire from spreading to a nearby restaurant. Around At 03:00, the fire was completely extinguished.
Footage released by the State Emergency Service shows significant damage to the service station’s structures and firefighters at work inside the building engulfed in flames.
A man died at a different address
That same night, another strike by a Russian UAV was recorded in the Solomyanskiy district. The drone struck non-residential building, where a fire had also broken out. Whilst extinguishing the blaze, the emergency services discovered a man’s body. The fire at this location was also brought under control.
As of this morning, no information had been released regarding the identity of the victim or the further circumstances of the attack.
There were several strikes in the Solomyanskyi district
The first reports of the attack’s aftermath began to come in shortly after midnight. The Mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klitschko reported that a drone had struck warehouse building in the Solomyanskyi district, where a fire broke out. Later, the Kyiv City Military Administration reported that an office building had also been hit. Consequently, the effects of the attack were recorded at several locations across the district throughout the night.
Russia has continued its attacks on the capital
The night-time raid was the latest in a series of attacks of Russian attacks to Kyiv over the last few days.
The day before, on 26 September, drone strikes and crashes were also reported in the capital. In the Solomyanskiy district, the façade of a five-storey residential block was damaged and a woman was injured, whilst in the Shevchenkivskiy district, a non-residential building caught fire. Emergency services are continuing to survey the sites of the night-time strikes and assess the full extent of the damage caused by the attack.
