DIU reports explosion of oil pipeline near Moscow: three lines of fuel supply to the frontline destroyed

Defence Intelligence of Ukraine reported simultaneous explosions on three branches of the Russian main oil product pipeline, which provided fuel to the Russian army.

According to the GUR, the attack took place on the evening of 31 October at a military facility near Moscow.
Destroyed all three threads, by which Russia transported petrol, diesel and jet fuel to the frontline.

«The oil product pipeline is completely out of commission. Anti-drone netting and security did not help,» the agency said.

The scale of the destruction

This is the so-called «Ring oil product pipeline» with a length of about 400 kilometres, that connected the Ryazan, Nizhny Novgorod and Moscow refineries.
Every year, the system transported:

  • to 3 million tonnes of aviation fuel,

  • to 2.8 million tonnes of diesel,

  • to 1.6 million tonnes of petrol.

These resources provided frontline units of the russian federation, as well as military depots and airfields in the central part of the country.

The value of the operation

The destruction of this oil pipeline was one of the most powerful blows to the fuel infrastructure of russia in recent months.
Analysts note that the loss of the Ring Road“ will significantly complicate logistics of fuel supply to military units, especially in the direction of Bryansk, Kursk and Belgorod.

«This is not only a blow to the military economy, but also a signal that even the targets near Moscow are not out of reach,» defence sources comment.
