A judge in Prykarpattia region runs over a man to death

In Ivano-Frankivsk district, on the motorway «Mukachevo-Lviv» a fatal accident involving a judge occurred.
According to Office of the Prosecutor General, the driver of the car Lexus in the village Fraga at high speed hit two pedestrians, who were crossing the road at an unregulated crossing.

One person died on the spot and another was seriously injured.

«The driver did not slow down and continued to move after the collision,» the PGO noted.

Suspicion and punishment

Prosecutors informed the judge of suspicion for violation of traffic rules that resulted in the death of a person (part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code).
She is threatened by up to 8 years' imprisonment with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles.

Context.

In recent months, this is not the first case of a fatal road accident involving officials and representatives of the judiciary. There is a growing public demand for public accountability and transparent investigation of such crimes.
