
Government temporarily bans export of timber and firewood
The Government of Ukraine has decided to Temporarily ban the export of unprocessed wood and firewood. This was announced by the Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko.
According to her, the restrictions were introduced for meeting internal needs - both government agencies and civilians.
«Some companies are currently idle or operating at minimum capacity due to a lack of timber. We have to meet the country's energy needs first and foremost,» Svyrydenko said.
Reasons for the timber export ban
Wood is required To the Defence Forces of Ukraine, They use it for fortifications, positioning and heating.
Also, a significant part of the rural and frontline communities depend on firewood as their main source of heat in winter.
