Corruption scheme in the energy sector

National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) announced the completion of a major transaction in cooperation with The Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO). The investigation continued more than 15 months, during which detectives collected about 1000 hours of audio recordings.

The materials document the activities of criminal organisation, which, through its controlled entities, influenced the work of strategic public sector enterprises - in particular NNEGC Energoatom JSC«.


Audio recordings made public

The NABU has published part of the audio materials, The investigators found documents that record the agreements between the participants in the scheme. According to the investigation, they discussed the appointment of managers and the distribution of financial flows in the energy sector.

The agency emphasises that the investigation is ongoing, and the published records are only a part of the evidence collected.


The purpose of the operation

According to the Bureau's representatives, the purpose of the operation is to exposing systemic corruption in the state energy sector and regaining control over key assets that ensure Ukraine's energy security.
