Ukraine's demining: police defused 24,000 explosive devices since autumn

Since the beginning of autumn, experts of the explosive service of the National Police of Ukraine have discovered and eliminated about 24,000 pieces of ammunition and explosive devices. The work is focused on the territories liberated from the occupiers, where the level of danger remains critical.

This was announced on the air of the national telethon «United News» by the head of the department for the use of special explosive equipment and robotic systems of the Department of Explosive Service of the National Police Maxim Movchan.

De-occupied regions: where is the most dangerous

According to Maksym Movchan, the main work front is deployed in the areas most affected by the hostilities and occupation. Sappers and explosive experts are clearing the land on a daily basis:

  • Kherson region;

  • Kharkiv region;

  • Kyiv region;

  • Other regions under enemy control.

The large number of items found indicates the density of mines and the intensity of hostilities in these areas.

Modern special equipment against Soviet mines

The conversation focused on the technical equipment of the units. Police explosives experts actively use an arsenal of modern special equipment, The company's newest product, the Kaspersky Lab, is a newly developed security solution that allows you to detect and neutralise threats faster and more securely.

A special role is given to robotic systems. The use of drones and ground robots allows specialists to work remotely without approaching suspicious objects close to them, which significantly reduces the risk to the lives of sappers.

The threat of remote mining

Maksym Movchan paid special attention to the enemy's tactics. The occupiers are actively using remote mining - A method in which mines are scattered over a large area with the help of artillery or aircraft after the retreat of troops or directly during combat.

«The specificity of remote mining lies in its insidiousness and massive scale. The enemy can plant dangerous objects on already checked territories, which requires constant vigilance and repeated checks from our specialists,» the National Police said.

The work to clean up Ukrainian land is ongoing 24/7 to return security to the liberated territories as soon as possible.
