Naftogaz and ORLEN have agreed on fuel supplies worth up to $500 million

In addition, the Polish company is due to supply three consignments of LNG in the first quarter of 2027 to meet peak seasonal demand.

Naftogaz has reached an agreement with Poland’s ORLEN on additional supplies of petrol and diesel to Ukraine worth up to $500 million. The companies have also agreed on the supply of three consignments of liquefied natural gas in the first quarter of 2027. The supplies are intended to bolster the stability of the fuel market and meet the country’s needs during the winter peak consumption period.

The fuel framework and the role of the Polish route

Memorandum Ukrnafta signed the agreement on petroleum products on behalf of the Naftogaz Group. The agreement was concluded during the Carpathian Eight Summit against the backdrop of tensions in the global petroleum products market.

The figure of up to $500 million represents the upper limit of the cooperation framework, rather than data on the physical volume already contracted. Poland is already a major source of diesel imports, and ORLEN is the largest corporate supplier of this fuel to Ukraine.

Separately, companies may be considering the processing of Ukrainian oil at refineries in Central Europe and the possible transfer of used tanker lorries to Ukrnafta. These are areas for further investigation, rather than agreed deliveries or the transfer of equipment.

LNG for peak consumption in winter

The gas agreement provides for three shipments of LNG during the period of peak seasonal demand in the first quarter of 2027.

Naftogaz and ORLEN have already collaborated on the supply of US LNG. Under the previous arrangement, the Polish company received the gas at the terminal, regasified it and transported it via pipelines to Ukraine.
