This morning, Russian drones attacked Ukrzaliznytsia's facilities in Kharkiv, Poltava and Dnipro regions. The strikes damaged wagons and an electric locomotive, but thanks to the coordinated work of the monitoring centre, all employees took cover in time and remained unharmed.

Russian attack in Kharkiv region

Around 07:30, an enemy UAV attacked a railway carriage in Kharkiv region. According to Ukrzaliznytsia, thanks to the prompt work of the monitoring centre, the conductor moved to a mobile shelter in time, and the locomotive crew was also protected. According to preliminary reports, there were no injuries among the staff.

Official information of Ukrzaliznytsia confirms that the carriage was destroyed as a result of a direct hit, but that human casualties were avoided thanks to clear instructions and coordinated action by the railway staff.

Shelling in Poltava and Dnipro regions

In Poltava region, an enemy drone hit between the tracks next to a locomotive. The explosion damaged a carriage and caused a fire, but no personnel were injured. The prompt actions of the employees avoided casualties, and the units quickly localised the consequences of the attack.

Another Russian attack was recorded at a station in the Dnipro region. There, during a UAV attack an electric locomotive is damaged, which was on the track. The train had been stopped in advance due to the danger of drones, and the workers were in a shelter. According to the railway company, no one was injured.

Personnel protection system

A key factor in avoiding casualties was the work of Ukrzaliznytsia's monitoring centre. Thanks to constant monitoring of the air situation and timely warnings, employees were able to quickly take cover in case of a threat.

Rail infrastructure remains one of the main targets for Russian attacks, but the security system minimises the risks to staff. Ukrzaliznytsia continues to improve its algorithms for responding to air threats and provides training for all employees.

Why it matters

Russian strikes on railway infrastructure are aimed at disrupting logistics, supply and regional life. However, the effective operation of Ukrzaliznytsia's security system proves that even in difficult conditions it is possible to protect people.

The absence of casualties in today's attacks demonstrates the high level of staff training and the importance of modern monitoring solutions. Saving lives of employees remains a priority for the railway industry even during active hostilities.
