Belarus is actively improving logistics routes and military training grounds, which may indicate preparations for further cooperation with Russia. However, according to the State Border Guard Service, there are currently no strike groups in the country, and there is no immediate threat of invasion from the north.

Belarus strengthens infrastructure for potential cooperation with Russia

Belarus continues to work systematically on the development of logistics, transport infrastructure and military training grounds that could be used for the needs of Russian troops in the event of an escalation. This was announced by the spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Andriy Demchenko. According to the State Border Guard Service, infrastructure is being modernised in several areas, including transport routes and training grounds, which increases the potential for military use in the future.

The SBGS notes that such actions by Minsk may be part of a strategy of long-term cooperation with Moscow, given the status of Belarus as a key ally of Russia since the beginning of the full-scale war against Ukraine.

Current situation: no direct threat to Ukraine

Despite the active development of infrastructure, the SBGSU emphasises that no formation of Russian strike groups has been observed on the territory of Belarus. Nor has the creation of forces capable of offensive actions against Ukraine been recorded. This means that there is no immediate threat of invasion from the north today.

According to Andriy Demchenko, The situation on the Belarusian direction remains under control, and border guards closely monitor all changes. At the same time, experts stress that infrastructure development poses potential risks to the future security of the region.

Infrastructure changes as a signal for Ukraine and the West

Experts note that the systematic modernisation of logistics routes and military training grounds in Belarus may indicate preparations for long-term military cooperation with Russia. This could also complicate the situation for Ukraine and its Western partners in the event of a new escalation.

The development of such facilities allows for the rapid deployment of troops or equipment, as well as training for joint operations. Although no offensive forces are currently being formed, the infrastructure changes could provide the basis for rapid action in the future.

Why it matters

The development of military and logistics infrastructure in Belarus is a factor of long-term instability for the region. Even if there is no direct threat today, such actions pose potential risks for Ukraine and neighbouring countries in the future.

The Ukrainian military and analysts emphasise that constant monitoring of the situation on the Belarusian direction remains critical. Any changes in the nature of infrastructure use can quickly affect the security situation in the region and require a quick response from the Ukrainian side.
