According to the Ministry of Defence, specialised systems and munitions are required to engage ballistic targets, in particular PAC-3 missiles for Patriot. Anti-drone interceptors are not a substitute for such systems, as they are ineffective against ballistic missiles.
As a further step, the president proposed new sanctions from the G7, the EU and other partners. According to him, a significant proportion of Russia’s ballistic missile production facilities are still not subject to sanctions.
