Ukraine has not yet received any official proposals for a ceasefire for 9 May. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who stressed that such initiatives look cynical against the backdrop of continued attacks on Ukrainian cities.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that as of today, Ukraine has not received any official proposals for a ceasefire for 9 May. According to him, the idea of a short-term ceasefire seems unfair, given the constant attacks on Ukrainian cities.
This topic is particularly acute after the recent shelling, which resulted in the deaths and injuries of civilians. In particular, for information on the eve of Russian troops attack Merefa, and even earlier - along the Dnipro.
Reaction to the idea of a «one-day peace»
Zelenskyy noted that proposals for a one-day ceasefire amid regular shelling were unacceptable. He stressed that attempts to stop hostilities just to hold a parade or other events have no value for Ukraine.
The President stressed: «A ceasefire for one day, and before that, killing our people is, to put it mildly, dishonest.» He added that after the deaths and injuries among civilians, calls for a short-term peace look cynical.
Consequences of shelling in Merefa and Dnipro
The last few days have been particularly tragic for Ukraine. Both adults and children have been killed and injured as a result of shelling in Merefa and Dnipro. Such actions by Russian troops are outrageous and make any talk of a temporary ceasefire meaningless.
Zelenskyy noted that there are no holidays for Ukrainians now, as the war continues and the threat to the lives of civilians persists every day. He also stressed that Ukraine sees no reason to trust such initiatives.
