Following the launch of the new iPhone 18 Pro and the foldable iPhone Duo, Apple has increased the prices of previous-generation models still available for sale. In Germany, the iPhone 16, iPhone 17 and iPhone 17e have gone up by €150, whilst the top-of-the-range iPhone Air with 1 TB of storage has risen by €350. The new prices are already reflected on the official Apple Store website.

The iPhone Air with 1 TB of storage has seen the biggest price rise
Most noticeable Apple checked the price of the top-of-the-range model iPhone Air with 1 TB of storage.
Just a few months ago, this model cost the following at the German Apple Store €1699. The official price is now €2049 — in other words, the smartphone went up in price by as much as €350.
The basic version of the iPhone Air with 256 GB has also gone up in price: Apple is now selling it from €1299.
The iPhone 16, 17 and 17e have each gone up by €150
The price increase has affected virtually all the models that Apple has retained in its current range.
iPhone 17e with 256 GB at the time of its release in March 2026, it cost in Germany €699. Its official price is now — €849.
iPhone 16 with 128 GB was previously sold for €849, and now costs €999.
Basic iPhone 17 with 256 GB has gone up in price by €949 to €1,099. Apple officially announced the starting price during the model’s launch event in 2025.

Prices have changed following the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo
Apple has updated its price list following September’s presentations, at which she presented iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and the first foldable iPhone Duo.
German technology publications have noted that the company has not only set higher prices for its new products, but has also significantly increased the prices of previous models that remain on sale.
Apple has, in fact, removed some of its smartphones from its official range altogether. In particular, the following models are no longer sold directly by the company: iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Why has Apple raised its prices?
The price changes themselves coincided with the launch of the new generation of iPhones; however, the main underlying reason cited for the rise in the price of Apple electronics in recent months is shortages and a sharp rise in the cost of memory and storage devices.
In June, Apple’s then-CEO Tim Cook warned that the global shortage of DRAM and other types of memory, caused by surging demand from data centres for artificial intelligence, is forcing the company to review its prices.
Cook later described the situation in the memory market as something of a peculiar one «a once-in-a-century flood» and acknowledged that Apple is reluctant to raise prices, but the increase in production costs has become too great.
Reuters also reports that in 2026, Apple is raising iPhone prices in various countries against the backdrop of a global shortage of memory components.
Buying a second-hand iPhone isn’t necessarily cheaper these days
After looking at the price list, the difference between the previous and new generations of iPhone has narrowed significantly.
For example, the 128 GB iPhone 16 now costs nearly €1,000, whilst the 256 GB iPhone 17 costs €1,099. This means that buying older models directly from Apple is no longer such an obvious way to save money.
At the same time, retail chains may still be selling remaining stock at the old prices or at promotional prices. It is therefore worth comparing the official Apple Store with offers from other retailers before making a purchase.
