After several cool and rainy days, the weather in Ukraine is beginning to stabilise. On 26–27 September, the weather is expected to be mainly dry and sunny, with temperatures rising to between +20 and +22° in some places. According to the forecast by meteorologist Natalka Didenko, the final days of September and the start of October are set to bring pleasant autumn weather — effectively a new spell of Indian summer.
Indian summer is in full swing
The active low-pressure system, which has been bringing rain and a drop in temperatures to Ukraine over the last few days, is gradually moving away from the country. It is being replaced by an area of high atmospheric pressure, so there will be less rainfall and more sunshine.
Nataliia Didenko As early as 23 September, she predicted that the end of the month and the start of October would bring more pleasant weather.
«The last few days of September and the start of October will bring us lovely, pleasant weather. Indian summer is already in the air,» noted the weather forecaster.
The first signs of warmer weather are already noticeable: temperatures have started to rise following a cold and rainy midweek.
What will the weather be like on 26–27 September?
According to the forecast by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Centre, From 25 to 27 September, most of Ukraine will see no precipitation. Only on 27 September are isolated, short-lived showers likely in the east and south-east.
The official forecast predicts daytime temperatures that will be mostly +14…+21°, although locally, particularly in warmer regions, temperatures may be slightly higher. A number of forecasts predict that this weekend will see temperatures of around +20…+23°. Nights will remain cool, however. In most regions, temperatures will drop to around +4…+11°, whilst in the south and east it will be warmer in places.
In Kyiv, it’s around +20° and there’s hardly any rain
The weekend is also set to be pleasant in the capital. On 26 September, temperatures are forecast to be around +20°, 27 September — temperatures are expected to be roughly the same. No significant rainfall is currently forecast.
No sudden drop in temperatures is currently forecast for Kyiv following the weekend: at the end of September, daytime temperatures are likely to remain around +19…+20°.
The warm weather may persist into early October
Early forecasts suggest that this favourable spell may not come to an end with the month of September.
Didenko pointed out that The weather in early October is also expected to be favourable. This means more sunny spells, relatively little rainfall and comfortable daytime temperatures. However, long-term forecasts are still subject to change. The most consistent trend at present is an end to the prolonged rains and a gradual return to warmer weather in late September.
Thus, following a brief autumn chill, Ukraine is entering a new spell of warm weather. This coming weekend will mark the start of another spell of Indian summer, and the pleasant warmth may well last into the first few days of October.
