Free parking for war veterans has been introduced in Dnipro

The concession was approved by the city council’s executive committee following a decision by councillors at the previous session. It is a municipal concession and requires the necessary paperwork to be completed.

The Executive Committee of Dnipro City Council has approved free parking for military personnel with combatant status. This benefit can be claimed once the relevant documents have been processed. The decision follows on from an initiative promoted by the «Gromadska Syla» team at the previous session of the City Council.

Briefly about the main points

  • The city council’s executive committee has approved discounted parking in Dnipro.
  • At present, this right is held by military personnel with combatant status.
  • To use the service, you must complete the relevant paperwork.
  • The concession is a local, rather than a national, guarantee.
  • «Public Force» wants to extend it to all military personnel.

Who is eligible for the benefit?

At present, the exemption from payment applies to military personnel with UBD status. According to the leader of «Gromadska Syla» Zagida Krasnova, such people can now apply for the benefit.

During the July session, councillors discussed the annual concessionary pass for the «eDnipro» service, which is linked to a specific person and vehicle. However, the final terms and conditions for applying for the pass, following the executive committee’s decision, are to be determined in accordance with the approved procedure.

Exemption from payment does not exempt you from the requirements of the stopping and parking regulations or from liability for breaching parking regulations.

The initiators are seeking to extend the right

At the previous session of the city council, councillors supported the change to the preferential parking scheme. During a second vote on 22 July, 41 councillors voted in favour of it.

Zagid Krasnov stated that the «Civic Force» team will be working in the near future to extend free parking to all military personnel. For service personnel without UBD status, this is currently a stated aim rather than an existing benefit.
