The role of international partners in the exchange of prisoners
Partners from the United States of America and the United Arab Emirates played a significant role in the process of returning Ukrainians. Their support made it possible to effectively conduct exchange and return 186 citizens home. This demonstrates the importance of international cooperation in the release of prisoners.
Peculiarities of the return of the liberated
Most of those released had been in captivity since 2022, including the defenders of Mariupol. The Ukrainians received a warm welcome from the very first step on their native land: they were greeted with flags, posters, hugs from their families and support from the Ukrainian nation. The authorities have announced their intention to ensure proper treatment, recovery and social rehabilitation of the liberated.
Importance for national unity
The return of the prisoners caused a wave of sincere emotions in society. This underscores the importance of supporting defenders and civilians who have been captured. Public commemoration and care for the liberated contribute to the unity of the nation and boost morale in the fight for Ukraine's independence.
