On the morning of 25 September, Russian troops attacked Zaporizhzhia. Two medical facilities were damaged: a fire broke out in one of them after it was hit, and five people were evacuated from the building. One man sustained minor injuries. At the second medical facility, the premises, ambulances and civilian vehicles were damaged.
A fire broke out in the hospital following the crash
The acting head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration reported on the consequences of this morning’s attack Mikhail Semikin.
According to him, Russian troops carried out strikes on several targets in Zaporizhzhia. One of the strikes hit a medical facility, where a fire broke out following the attack.
Photographs released by the regional authorities show significant damage to the building: smashed windows, and walls and rooms that have been severely damaged.
From hospital Five people were evacuated. One man sustained minor injuries and is receiving the necessary medical treatment. As of the morning update, there were no other casualties at this location.
Another medical facility has been damaged
Semikin later reported that he had been injured as a result of the same attack yet another healthcare facility in Zaporizhzhia. The premises there have been damaged, ambulances and civilian vehicles. According to the Regional Military Administration, no one at this location was injured. Thus, the morning attack struck two of the city’s medical facilities at once.
Emergency services are on the ground
Following the strikes, rescue workers and other relevant services are on the ground. They are dealing with the aftermath of the attack and inspecting the damaged buildings. Information on the full extent of the damage is still being finalised. The Regional Military Administration has not yet provided an estimate of the damage or a timeline for the full restoration of the damaged medical facilities.
