Between 10 and 25 July, three new hangars for storing attack UAVs were built at the Primorsko-Akhtarsk airfield in the Krasnodar Krai of Russia. The structures are located close to the launch pads. At least two further hangars are still under construction and may be completed in the near future.

New structures have appeared near the launch pads
Three new hangars were built between 10 and 25 July. They have been situated close to the launch pads; this may indicate a link between the structures and the operation of attack UAVs at the airfield.
The construction may be linked to an increase in the number of jet-powered drones in use and the need to store them. At the same time, the function of each individual hangar should not be equated solely with jet-powered UAVs.
The fourth structure of this type has been at the airfield for some time: it was built at the end of August 2025. At the same time, construction is underway on at least two new hangars.
The airfield is regularly mentioned in reports of drone launches
Primorsko-Akhtarsk It is regularly mentioned in reports by the Ukrainian Air Force as one of the launch sites for Russian attack UAVs. In particular, on 27 July 2026, the airfield was named among the launch sites for 147 Shahed-type drones, some of which were jet-powered, as well as «Gerber», «Italmas» and decoy drones.
On 4 June 2026, the Air Force reported the launch of 293 attack UAVs from several directions, including Primorsko-Akhtarsk. Shahed jet-powered drones were also used in the attack, although the distribution of the drones across individual launch sites was not disclosed.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine had previously described this airfield as a facility used by Russia for storage, preparation and launches Shahed across Ukraine. The combination of regular launches and the introduction of additional hangars is consistent with the expansion or strengthening of the resilience of the infrastructure for the storage and pre-launch preparation of UAVs.
The infrastructure had already been the target of Ukrainian strikes
On the night of 6 February 2025, the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces, together with other components of the Defence Forces, struck the airfield. In August of that year, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported that Shahed storage and launch sites had been hit and that a fire had broken out in the vicinity of the facility.
Previous strikes may be one explanation for the shift towards more concealed or dispersed storage. This is an analytical conclusion: the new hangars may also be used for the maintenance or pre-flight preparation of drones.
