One person has been killed in the Pisochyn community in the Kharkiv region as a result of an attack by Russian drones. The strikes hit the areas around the postal terminal and a vehicle maintenance depot, where two fires broke out. Rescue workers found the body of the victim whilst extinguishing the fire at the postal terminal.

Two fire outbreaks
Following the strikes, the areas around the postal terminal and the transport company caught fire. Lorries, trailers, containers and equipment were ablaze.
Rescue workers and the local fire brigade were called in to put out the fires. They extinguished all the blazes whilst working under the threat of further Russian strikes.
Repeated strikes on the community’s freight facilities
The Pisochyn community is a suburban community of Kharkiv, home to transport and logistics facilities. According to the state portal «Decentralisation», it comprises eight settlements, with Pisochyn as its administrative centre.
The postal and freight infrastructure in this area has already been targeted. In June 2026, Russian drones attacked a postal terminal in Novy Korotych: at the time, there were reports of a fire covering an area of over 400 square metres and damage to the building, containers and lorries.
In July, according to figures released with reference to the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, another strike on the terminal in Novy Korotych claimed the lives of four men, whilst a further 20 people were injured. Earlier, in October 2023, the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights recorded the deaths of eight workers and at least 14 people were injured following a missile strike on the postal terminal. This series of attacks points to an ongoing risk to logistics facilities in the Pisochyn community.
Work continued under the threat of further attacks
Despite the risk of further blazes, rescue workers and the local fire brigade managed to extinguish all the fires. Whilst putting out the fire at the postal terminal, rescue workers discovered the body of a deceased person.
