A Russian attack damaged a Suziria Group warehouse
On the night of 19 September, one of the storage facilities was damaged during a Russian attack Suziria Group in the Kyiv region.
According to the Retail Association of Ukraine, the property’s floor area exceeds 8,000 square metres. At the same time, the Suziria Group itself stated in its official communication that damage to the warehouse, rather than the complete destruction of the facility.
At the time of the attack, the staff on duty were taking cover. None of the staff were injured.
Rescue workers and other emergency services were at the scene.
The damaged site did not affect MasterZoo’s operations
An important clarification: the affected building is a warehouse Suziria Group, rather than as a separate branch of the MasterZoo chain.
MasterZoo is part of the Suziria Group, but damage to this site did not result in the network being taken offline.
As clarified by the Suziria Group press office, the MasterZoo pet shops and online shop are continuing to operate as normal and are supplying customers with the necessary goods.
Therefore, any reports of a possible shutdown of MasterZoo or network disruptions caused by this attack are incorrect.
Which brands does the Suziria Group produce?
Suziria Group operates in several areas simultaneously — the manufacture, distribution and retail sale of pet products.
The group’s own brands include:
- Savoury;
- Half&Half;
- Catch!;
- The Special One;
- Pet Fashion;
- «Nature»;
- Puramur.
At the same time, Suziria Group is not a manufacturer of other international brands, which are included in its distribution portfolio. The company acts as the official distributor in Ukraine for a number of these brands.
The group itself encompasses manufacturing, distribution and retail operations, and MasterZoo forms part of its retail business. Official documents from Suziria also confirm that MasterZoo is part of the group’s structure.
Nine civilian facilities were damaged in the Kyiv region
The attack on 19 September was part of a sustained series of Russian attacks on the Kyiv region.
According to the Kyiv Regional State Administration, the attacks caused damage in four districts of the region nine civilian facilities. These include five warehouses, a production facility and a garage, vehicles and a block of flats.
Damage was reported in the Obukhiv, Vyshhorod, Boryspil and Bucha districts.
In the Bucha district, a fire also broke out at an office and logistics complex following the strike; it was extinguished by the emergency services.
Editorial clarification
This article has been updated following a statement from the Suziria Group press office. The previous version incorrectly stated that a MasterZoo warehouse had been damaged. In fact, one of Suziria Group’s warehouses was affected, and this did not impact MasterZoo’s operations. The list of the group’s own brands and information regarding the distribution of international brands have also been clarified.
