A Russian «Shahed»-type attack drone struck a multi-storey residential block in Odesa. The strike hit a building in the Arkadia district.

Footage released shows smoke billowing from the damaged section of the high-rise building. Details regarding casualties and the extent of the damage are currently being confirmed.

The strike took place in the Arcadia area

A drone struck a residential building in a densely built-up area Odessa. A photograph taken at the scene shows smoke on one of the upper floors of the high-rise building.

Preliminary reports suggest that the blast has damaged flats and the building’s façade. The exact extent of the fire and the number of flats that have been damaged have not yet been established.

Rescue workers, paramedics, police officers and other emergency services are due to arrive at the scene. Once the fire has been brought under control, experts will be able to inspect the damaged flats and check whether anyone is still inside.

Details of those affected are being finalised

As of the time of publication, there is no official information regarding any fatalities or injuries. It is also unknown whether the residents of the block were evacuated.

The Odesa regional and city military administrations are to report the precise consequences of the attack separately. Initial reports following such strikes may change as the building is assessed.

The threat to Odessa remains

Residents of the city must remain in shelters until the air-raid siren is officially called off. Following an impact, do not approach the damaged building due to the risk of fire, structural collapse or a further attack.

You should also refrain from publishing footage of air defence operations, drone flight paths or the exact locations of military installations. Details of the consequences of the Russian strike on Arkadia are still being clarified.
