Pentagon chief Pete Hagel quoted a monologue from the film Pulp Fiction instead of a biblical text. In his speech, he referred to the Book of Ezekiel, although he actually used a fictional quote from Quentin Tarantino's script.

Speech by Pete Hagseth

The head of the Pentagon Pete Hegseth during his public speech, quoted a monologue that almost verbatim repeated the famous scene from the film Pulp Fiction. The only change in the text concerned the phrase: instead of «the path of the righteous», Hagseth mentioned «the path of the downed pilot».

The US Secretary of Defence referred to the Book the prophet Ezekiel (25:17), emphasising that he wanted to make his speech solemn. However, the text he used is not found in any biblical version.

Source of the quote

The original monologue belongs to the character played in the film Pulp Fiction by Samuel L. Jackson. This quote was created by the writers of Quentin Tarantino and is not biblical. Despite the reference to the Bible, there is no corresponding passage in the Book of Ezekiel.

The fact that a fictitious text was used aroused interest among the media and religious experts. So far, there has been no official comment from the Pentagon on this confusion.

Reaction to the speech

Pete Hagseth's speech quickly spread on social media and sparked discussion. Some users drew attention to the discrepancy between the stated biblical source and the actual content of the quote. The incident became the subject of discussion among political observers and religious leaders.
