Drone attacks in the Stavropol Krai

On the morning of 19 July, Russian air defence forces detected a drone attack in the area Stavropol. Following this, two fires broke out in the industrial area of the village of Vyazniki in the Shpakivsky District. Local authorities have confirmed that there were no fatalities or injuries.

Footage from the scene shows intense fires and a huge plume of black smoke rising above the industrial area. The bright flames are visible from a considerable distance, indicating the scale of the fire.

Fires in Stavropol’s industrial areas

In addition to the village of Vyazniki, a fire was reported in the industrial zone in the north of Stavropol, near the administrative border with the Shpakovsky District. This fire also resulted in no casualties or injuries. The scene of the incident is located far from residential buildings, so there is no threat to residents.

Firefighters are continuing to bring the fire under control; the latest information regarding damage to industrial facilities is currently being verified.

A history of attacks on industrial infrastructure

This is not the first incident of this kind in July near the village of Vyazniki. Fires at industrial sites following drone attacks have previously been reported there. The Russian authorities have not named any specific perpetrators, whilst the Ukrainian side has not commented on this attack.

The consequences and extent of the damage require further assessment. Work is continuing on the ground, and the emergency services are monitoring the situation to prevent the fire from spreading to residential areas.
