Attacks on industrial sites in Kyiv, according to Russia’s account
Russian sources have reported a massive missile strike on Kyiv involving the use of «Iskander» and «Zircon» missiles. In particular, mention is made of the strike on the «Meridian» radio-electronics plant named after S. P. Korolyov, the «Artem» plant, as well as areas associated with the Kyiv Central Design Bureau for Valve Manufacturing and the «Kyivkhimvolokno» enterprise. At the same time, Ukrainian official sources have not confirmed the strikes on specific factories, and this information requires independent verification.
The impact on residential areas and the actions taken by the State Emergency Service
As a result of the missile strikes in Kyiv, the Dniprovskyi, Desnianskyi, Solomianskyi, Shevchenkivskyi and Sviatoshynskyi districts were affected. The State Emergency Service reported fires in office, residential and non-residential buildings, damage to high-rise blocks and vehicles catching fire. A fatality was found in the Shevchenkivskyi district, whilst in the Sviatoshynskyi district, rescue workers saved four residents. In total, one person died and a further eight were injured.
Attacks on the Odesa region and the energy infrastructure of other regions
Russian sources have also reported ballistic strikes on infrastructure in the areas around the ports of Pivdennyi and Chornomorsk in the Odesa region. Official figures on the damage are expected from the Ukrainian authorities. Following strikes on energy infrastructure in Chernihiv, power cuts have been reported. Drones attacked an energy facility in Snigurivka, Mykolaiv Oblast, and also carried out attacks on Sumy and Zaporizhzhia, where a fire broke out on the premises of one of the enterprises.
The information context and expectations regarding official reports
The full picture of the weapons used and the consequences of the missile strikes will be known following the official report from the Ukrainian Air Force. Russia’s claims regarding the destruction of specific defence facilities should be viewed in the context of information warfare, as during wartime, confirmation of targets and results is often lacking or difficult to verify.
