US senators have introduced a bill in Congress that would allow confiscated Russian assets to be used to strengthen Ukraine’s defence capabilities. This initiative could prove to be an important step in Ukraine’s fight against Russian aggression.

US Bill on Military Aid to Ukraine
Draft law The Seized Assets for Battlefield Equipment and Readiness Act (the SABER Act) was introduced by a group of senators, including Tima Kane, Jonah Cornina and others. It provides for amendments to current US legislation REPO Act, which allows for the confiscation of frozen Russian assets under US jurisdiction.
“This legislation will take another step towards helping our ally defend itself against Russian aggression,” said Senator John Cornyn.
The main goal is to the procurement of military equipment and machinery for the Ukrainian Defence Forces. This will enable Ukraine to secure the resources it needs to counter Russia’s «unprovoked invasion».
Support without placing a burden on taxpayers
Senator Chuck Grassley He emphasised that this initiative would not cost American taxpayers anything, as the use of confiscated assets would enable Ukraine to receive support without any additional expenditure from the US budget.
“It is important that this support for Ukraine costs American taxpayers nothing,” he concluded.
Continued security assistance to Ukraine
The bill also follows the decision of the US Senate Armed Services Committee, which voted to extend security assistance to Ukraine. The US Department of Defence is obliged to provide Kyiv with intelligence for the conduct of military operations.
This draft law could become an important tool for improving Ukraine’s defence capabilities in the face of the ongoing threat from Russia.
