Tusk commented on Zelenskyy’s absence
Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk commented on the absence of the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky at a conference on restoring Ukraine, which took place in Gdańsk. According to the Polish Prime Minister, this decision should not be seen as a diplomatic row or a cooling of relations between the two countries.
On the contrary, Tusk described it as a kind of «de-escalation» of the tensions that have recently arisen between certain political figures.
«A pause might be beneficial,» said Tusk, emphasising that a certain degree of emotional tension had arisen between the leaders of the two countries, which, in his view, was not conducive to bilateral relations.
Therefore, a temporary drop in temperature public debate could help steer cooperation back onto a constructive path. Tusk emphasised that Poland remains one of Ukraine’s key partners and continues to support it during the war.
Poland calls for us to look to the future
Separately, the Polish Prime Minister emphasised the need to build Ukrainian-Polish relations not around historical disputes and the traumas of the past, but with a focus on the future. In his view, both countries share common strategic interests in the fields of security, the economy and European integration.
Tusk noted that partnership and cooperation must remain the cornerstone of relations between Warsaw and Kyiv.
