Russia has begun using new electronic warfare systems to jam the Starlink signal, which is hampering Ukrainian drone operations on the front line. The occupying forces are disguising military cargo as civilian transport in an attempt to protect their logistics routes.

New challenges for Ukrainian drones
Russian forces are actively changing their tactics to counter Ukrainian long-range drones, which are striking military logistics facilities, fuel depots and air defence systems deep behind enemy lines. According to data According to Reuters, the occupying forces have begun deploying powerful electronic warfare systems capable of jamming signals Starlink, and also disguise military cargo as civilian transport.
The «Volna Kupol Garant» Complex»
According to an adviser to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence Sergey Beskrestnov, Russia has begun deploying the «Volna-Kupol-Garant» electronic warfare system. The system generates such powerful jamming that it is capable of disrupting Starlink operations across an area of approximately 20 square kilometres. The Ukrainian side has already detected around ten such systems. However, once detected, they become priority targets for Ukrainian drone operators. “After one such system was destroyed, Starlink-equipped drones were once again able to carry out combat missions unhindered,” the military noted.
Camouflaging military cargo
Commanders of Ukrainian units have reported that the Russian army is increasingly using civilian vehicles to transport military cargo. Among the documented cases are petrol tankers disguised as water tankers and milk lorries carrying diesel fuel, as well as small civilian vehicles, quad bikes and motorbikes used to deliver ammunition and fuel. In addition, the Russian military are concealing depots in abandoned buildings, farms and other civilian premises.
The impact of Ukrainian strikes on the course of the war
According to an analyst at the US-based Foreign Policy Research Institute Rob Lee, Ukraine’s campaign to the use of long-range drones has become one of the most important factors on the battlefield this year. It is precisely thanks to such strikes that Ukrainian forces are regularly targeting fuel depots, command posts, air defence systems, logistics routes and military infrastructure in occupied Crimea. At the same time, the expert notes that should new Russian electronic warfare systems be deployed on a large scale, conducting such operations could become more difficult.
