  • A large-scale fire broke out in the Kyiv region following a drone attack.
  • According to preliminary reports, the «Aurora» warehouses in Stoyanka are on fire.
  • A huge column of black smoke rose above the area.
  • Russia continues to carry out systematic attacks on warehouses and logistics facilities in the Kyiv region.

Preliminary report: the «Aurora» team in Stoyanka has come under attack

The «Aurora» chain has a large logistics centre in Stoyanka, in the Kyiv region — the company is continuing to recruit staff for its warehouse at the following address: 21st kilometre of the Zhytomyr Highway. Aurora had also previously acquired one of the region’s largest logistics complexes — «West Gate Logistic» — with a floor area of around 97,000 square metres.

At the time of publication, the company itself had not yet released detailed information regarding today’s attack and the extent of the losses. Therefore, the claim that the facility engulfed in flames belongs to «Aurora» is currently being reported as preliminary information.

Footage from the scene shows heavy smoke: thick, dark smoke rises hundreds of metres into the air and is carried by the wind over the suburbs.

Russia continues to strike targets in the Kyiv region

Today’s fire comes amidst a series of attacks by the Russian Federation on the warehousing and logistics infrastructure of the capital region.

On 31 August, damage to storage facilities in several districts of the Kyiv region was officially confirmed. In particular, in the Brovary district, warehouses and retail premises, and in Boryspil — three more warehouses. There have been casualties as a result of the attacks.

A separate major fire broke out today in Pohreby, in the Brovary district, following a drone attack. Monitoring sources had previously reported that jet-powered drones were heading towards Kyiv.

Strikes against large warehouses and logistics hubs have thus been continuing in waves for several days running.

Heavy smoke is possible due to the fire

Air quality in the area may deteriorate due to fires in warehouses.

If smoke or the smell of burning reaches residential areas, residents should close their windows and doors and limit their time outdoors until the situation improves.

During new air raid alerts, you must take shelter. Due to the high speed of jet-powered drones, the time between the threat appearing and a possible strike may be very short.

The authorities and emergency services are continuing to deal with the aftermath of the Russian attacks. Information about The extent of the fire in Stoyanka, the volume of goods destroyed and the number of possible casualties are currently being ascertained.
