President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukraine had carried out long-range strikes on the Moscow region on the night of 20 September. According to him, one of Russia’s key oil industry facilities and a logistics facility were hit. Several types of Ukrainian long-range weapons were deployed during the operation, including the FP-1, «Lyuty», «Palyanytsia» and «Flamingo».

Zelenskyy confirmed strikes on the Moscow region
Volodymyr Zelenskyy said., …that on the night of 19–20 September, Ukrainian long-range weapons struck two targets in the Moscow region.
According to the President, we are talking about one of the key companies in the Russian Federation’s oil industry and logistics facility.
«Our long-range strikes had a very significant impact in the Moscow region last night. One of the Russian Federation’s key oil industry facilities and a logistics facility belonging to the aggressor have been hit,» said Zelenskyy.
Previously, the Russian authorities and open sources had confirmed the impact of the strikes on the territory The Moscow Oil Refinery in Kapotna and the great warehouse complex у Sofino. Reuters also reported a strike on an oil refinery in the Russian capital.
What Ukrainian measures were taken?
Zelenskyy has published a comprehensive list of the assets that took part in the night-time operation.
According to him, the following were used:
- FP-1;
- RZ-100;
- MICH-2000;
- «Palyanitsa»;
- Vendetta;
- «February»;
- «Bars»;
- «Flamingo»;
- «January»;
- Pelican.
The President expressed his separate gratitude for the operation to the Security Service of Ukraine, the Unmanned Systems Forces, the Special Operations Forces, the Main Intelligence Directorate and the Foreign Intelligence Service.
The oil refinery and logistics complex were hit
A major fire broke out during the night at The Moscow Oil Refinery in Kapotna. Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin acknowledged damage to the property on the company’s premises.
The Moscow Oil Refinery is one of Russia’s largest oil refineries and has a capacity of approximately 11 million tonnes of oil per year.
Another major fire broke out in Sofino, in the Moscow Region. The Ukrainian company Fire Point stated that the warehouse complex there had been struck by FP-1 drones.
Zelenskyy described these facilities as a source of billions in revenue that supports the Russian war machine. This is the Ukrainian side’s assessment.
The President also mentioned a company in the Voronezh Region
Separately, Zelenskyy stated that «sanctions had been imposed» on a facility in the Voronezh region. In his statement, he did not specify the name of the facility or the nature of the damage.
The President also stated that Moscow should not be building up additional layers of air defence at the expense of other regions, but should bring the war to an end.
He once again outlined possible steps towards de-escalation in the areas of energy and food security, and stated that this would require political will.
